« Mont-Blanc ahead, and Savoy underfoot. »

I

The portrait of the place

Megève is not a resort, it is a village. Founded in 1916 by the Baroness de Rothschild as a French answer to Saint-Moritz, it grew around its Savoyard farmhouses, its baroque church and its pedestrian lanes, in the cradle of the Mont-Blanc massif.

At 1,100 metres, the village faces the chain directly. The Évasion Mont-Blanc ski domain rises to 2,350 metres, linked with Combloux, Saint-Gervais and La Giettaz. French and international winter society returns season after season, in the discretion Megève cultivates as a signature — the exact opposite of the noisier resorts.

Access is mainly via Geneva airport, one hour away through the Arve and Mont-Blanc valleys. Lyon, Annecy and Chambéry are the other gateways. Maison Vehira serves its winter and summer guests there — transfers from Geneva, conveyances between chalets and lifts, seasonal connections with the Riviera.

II

The House at Megève

Alpine service obeys its own rules. Iced roads, snow, mountain passes: the House's motorcars run on winter tyres from November onwards, and chauffeurs in season at Megève are mountain men as much as drivers. No journey begins without precise knowledge of the morning's conditions.

The House drives between the chalets of Demi-Quartier, Mont d'Arbois, Rochebrune and the village. It serves the Chamois, Jaillet and Rochebrune lifts. At the evenings of the Mont d'Arbois and Lodge Park, it waits according to each house's protocol. Late returns go at a measured pace, in the silence of the snow-bright roads.

For guests returning to Megève season after season, the House sets winter packages covering the entire stay. Connections with Geneva, Lyon, and the Riviera in summer are calibrated to the family agendas.

The addresses of the House

The House regularly serves the guests of the great Megève houses — Les Fermes de Marie, Four Seasons Megève Mont d'Arbois, Lodge Park, Alpaga, M de Megève, Hôtel Mont-Blanc — without naming them in its current exchanges. It also drives to the private chalets of Mont d'Arbois, Rochebrune and Demi-Quartier, on prior instruction. For arrivals via the Megève altiport or by helicopter from Geneva, the protocol is set with the captain and the host house.

The Savoyard attachment

For seasonal residents

For families spending a full winter season at Megève — December to March for some, long alternating weeks for others — the House offers a seasonal attachment. A dedicated chauffeur, a reserved motorcar, journeys calibrated to the household's rhythm: school, pistes, lunch, evening engagements.

Knowledge of local particulars — Col des Aravis closures by conditions, lift opening windows, high-altitude chalet access — is integral to the service. The engagement is nominal, by prior interview.

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take to get from Geneva Airport to Megève?

Allow 1 hr 15 for some 70 kilometres. It is the resort's most frequent run. The Maison follows conditions in the Arve valley, which loads heavily on changeover Saturdays in high season.

Are the motorcars equipped for winter?

Yes. The Maison's motorcars run on winter tyres from November to March and carry the special equipment required by the Loi Montagne in the communes concerned. No journey is accepted unless the motorcar complies with the conditions of the day.

Does the Maison carry skis and bulky luggage?

Yes, in the Mercedes V-Class, which seats up to 7 passengers with the corresponding boot volume. For a party travelling with full equipment, the Maison reduces the number of passengers per motorcar or adds a second one — this is settled at booking.

Can Megève be reached from the French Riviera?

Yes. Allow around 6 hours from Nice. The Maison covers this journey with one motorcar and one chauffeur, often for families moving from a Riviera season to a stay in the mountains.
