Cannes Film Festival
Mid-May — twelve days · Cannes · La Croisette
« Twelve days of red carpet, and the Croisette folds in upon itself. »
I
The rendezvous
The International Film Festival turns Cannes into the capital of cinema for twelve days. Hotels full, the Croisette partly closed during red-carpet hours, yachts berthed at Port Canto and the Vieux Port, hillside villas rented by the night.
The House's guests are expected everywhere at once — hotel in the early afternoon, red carpet at the Palais des Festivals at 7pm, villa after-party at midnight. The windows between two engagements forgive nothing. The House anticipates, prepositions, and holds.
II
The House during the event
For the fortnight, the House doubles motorcars near the Croisette, organises yacht-quay-red carpet connections, and holds relays for evenings that spill into dawn. Transfers to Nice or Mandelieu are tuned to the weather of festival arrivals.
