Chez Bruno
Lorgues, Provence — Truffle country
I
The House
In the countryside of Lorgues, a 1920s family bastide became, more than forty years ago, home to a singular devotion: the truffle. Clément Bruno built it on one simple, radical idea — a single menu, entirely devoted to the black diamond, changing with the harvests. The house is now passed down within the family, and its spirit endures: Provençal generosity, the product as king, ceremony without stiffness.
II
The setting
Twenty minutes from the motorway, among the vines of the central Var. Allow forty-five minutes from Saint-Tropez, a little over an hour from Cannes or Nice airport. A dining room with the feel of a lived-in home, a vast terrace beneath the trees; a few Provençal suites and a catering service extend the table.
III
The reputation
One Michelin star and a renown that reaches far beyond Provence: Chez Bruno is one of those addresses passed from hand to hand, where regulars from around the world return for the legendary potato with truffle cream. Menus follow the seasons — aestivum in summer, melanosporum in winter, up to the white Alba truffle in autumn.
